There are many artists who fail to distinguish their albums from one another. Convulsing is not one of them, and whilst Errata is brilliant in its own right, it can't hold a candle to this one.
Inert stands out particularly to me. The guitar riff and drums in the intro scratches a particular itch that no other seems to alleviate, and Brendan's vocals are, as always, something to behold.
Outstanding album, and I cannot wait for my record to come. Favorite track: Inert.

The true strength of this album is how well it implements highly technical and finger-cramping riffs without compromising sheer heaviness and brutality. If more tech death sounded like this, I actually might care about the subgenre.

Another album so brilliant I had to buy it twice, Grievous is a rare record that balances a love for texture with a sense of dynamism, and the payoff from its daunting tracks is a hefty catharsis.

A dark, twisted aural assault of dissonant blackened death metal. Demanding and intense at all points, like being caught in a maelstrom, but somehow still bringing in atmosphere to lend some breath to each track. The controlled chaos is remarkable as it descends in hopelessness.

Probably the happiest I have ever been to get a surprise release. Using dissonance and technicality for the sole purpose of properly conveying emotional weight, seems like every release leaves no room for improvement, yet somehow the next one surpasses it.

The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel.

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names.
