Psychofagist was an Avant-Grindcore band from Italy and this album was a collaborative effort with Czech noise outfit Napalmed. Reminds you of something?!
Sure, a lot of you will think of Full of Hell/Merzbow, but 'Songs of Faint and Distortion' predates that by a couple of years. It's exactly 10 years old, which is why the band and us collaborated to bring it back to the digital realm.
This record is so unhinged and disturbing, it basically feels like the soundtrack to insanity itself. It's dissonant, chaotic and absolutely fucking raw. And it's just criminally overlooked!
The riffs on 'Songs of Faint and Distrotion' are a nasty, twisted assault on the senses and the vocal performance is as real and genuine as it gets.
Together with the raw and truly unique production, this record is nothing short of a statement of disturbing misery. The likelihood that you probably don't know it yet is a shame, but we are here to change that today...

Chez Brendan Sloan, la solitude écrasante n'est pas qu'une philosophie de vie : c'est une condition sine qua non de la création. Plus dissonant encore qu'Errata, Grievous est l'illustration du nom du groupe. Toute possibilité d'une tranquilité psychologique est menacée par une tempête de riffs convulsifs ("Inert"). Une vraie plaie à ciel ouvert. Aucune forme de pathos mais une douleur qui harcèle et détruit le cerveau. Mention spéciale à "No Dreaming" où Brendan à lui seul assure les chœurs.
